QUESTIONS?
See if the answer is here:
Q: What kind of real estate do you write about?
A: My focus is on residential real estate, but I do also write about commercial real estate from time to time. I write about buying, selling, and renting property, as well as mortgages, information about homeownership, home insurance, understanding the real estate market (and the terms associated with it), and just about anything else you can think of. Even if I haven't already written about it, I can research it and still provide content you will be thrilled to use.
Q: Do you guarantee the accuracy of what you write?
A: I always thoroughly research a topic before I write it. Because each client is unique, and may be in different states from both other clients and myself, I am careful to ensure that I only use information applicable based on the laws, rules, and regulations of your state. However, these things are subject to change. I confirm dates and use the most recent information I can find, as well as using sites designated as .org or .gov or that are otherwise reputable and more likely to be accurate. It is up to each agent/broker to ensure that the information has not changed since I wrote the content or since my sources last wrote about the topic. I have not had any complaints yet about outdated or incorrect content.
Q: Will you reuse content you write for us for other clients?
A: Although I do have starter packages that are designed specifically for clients who are trying to get a website up and running, these are clearly marked as such. These starter packages are slightly customized to each client and are reused. When you purchase one of my other content packages, however, you are buying completely customized content that is created specifically for you. This content will never be reused with another client. It may used as an example in my portfolio, but only with your consent.
Q: Do we have to put your name on the blog posts as the author?
A: If you would like to, I am happy to provide a byline and brief bio. There is no obligation to do so, however. I write your content with the expectation that you will place your name or that of someone on your team on the content. There is no difference in price whether you choose to give me a byline or put your own name on the content.
Q: How long will it take to get content back and be ready to post it?
A: This varies depending on the package you choose, how you choose to have it delivered, and the topics you want me to cover. In general, I can deliver content within approximately two weeks of an order being placed.
Q: How far in advance do we need to request content?
A: Again, there are many factors that influence this. I typically recommend clients give me 4-6 weeks lead time to allow ample time for research, writing, edits and revisions. Additionally, because I am a solo act, this also ensures a cushion should I have an emergency arise. If you have special content that needs to be ready by a specific date (such as holiday content), I recommend submitting your order 8-12 weeks in advance, if not more, to ensure that your content is ready in time.
Q: What if we don't have a specific topic to write about? Can we just let you choose?
A: A perk that I offer to my clients is a library of topics I can write about. This library ensures that, even if you don't have a specific topic in mind, I can always find something to write about on your behalf. You can peruse the topics yourself and choose one or you can allow me to choose for you. You can also mix-and-match by providing some topics of your own, looking at my library of topics and choosing some, and allowing me to choose some.
!Q: Do you write in a very formal style or a more conversational style or something else?
A: I write in your voice. Before I begin writing any content, I take some time to go through your website and familiarize myself with your existing content and the voice used. This allows me to write content that is formal, conversational, or anywhere in between, based on what you already have. If you don't yet have a website or don't have a clear voice, then I'll chat with you to find out what you're looking for and create content with the tone you want.
Q: What if we have offices in multiple states?
A: I understand that some aspects of real estate may be different in different states. This is why I always thoroughly research a topic before I begin writing. If I find a topic that has significant differences between states, I will reach out to you and find out how you want me to handle it. Sometimes, a client will ask me to focus on a specific state. Some ask me to provide a brief overview of each state's rules, regulations, or laws. And others ask me to give a very general overview of the topic itself and direct the reader to contact their local agent through the website to get more information about the specifics in their state. You may have another idea and I'm happy to work with you to put it into words on your website.
Q: I have another question not answered here.
A: No problem! Just send me an email at wendy at writewithwendy.com with your question. I'll get back to you within 24 hours Monday-Friday, and 48-72 hours on weekends and holidays.
